Ruby Richards - Atlanta, Ga - Friend
To My Dear Friend Gail Honey and the Shinsky Family,
I truly can not remember the first time I met your Dad, but what I do remember is meeting a man who I knew instantly was a kind, hardworking, family man who raised a wonderful family and built a business any person would be proud of. He was an easy man to be around, a down to earth, no nonsense kind of guy.
While I don't remember the first time I met him, I do remember the last time we were together. We went to the Memorial Day Parade in downtown Lorain this past May. We sat him down on the corner so he could have a good view and we all enjoyed as the parade passed us by. A fellow veteran, his pride was evident. We attempted to walk home but unfortunately that wasn't possible. In addition to the parade we had a couple of family dinners together and enjoyed each others company. I could see that Gabe and Norb had a special relationship and managed to snap a picture of the two of them.
I'm happy that Jeff was able to meet your Dad in Pensacola a couple of years ago. He referred to your Dad as "Coach", though I'm not sure why. But, if it was in reference to being a person who gave good advice to others then the term surely fit.
I regret never having golfed with your Dad as I'm sure he could have given me a few pointers. Perhaps there are courses in heaven and someday we'll play a round.
With much love and prayers that your memories of an ordinary man who touched the lives of others in an extraordinary way live on and comfort you.
Ruby and Jeff
