Phyllis Harper's Obituary
Phyllis Harper (nee Whitt) 76 years of age and a resident of Amherst Township, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Thursday, June 7, 2012.
Phyllis was born March 7, 1936 to the late Andrew Whitt and Molly Whitt in the valley between the mountains of West Virginia. There she met her loving husband Donald Harper and moved to Ohio in 1958 where she has lived ever since. She was blessed by her husband to never have to work outside the home. Over the years, side by side they built their home and laid the foundation of love for their children to walk on. Her passions stemmed from raising her children to the bluegrass music she performed for many people. The centerpiece of Phyllis' life was her family. She loved children spending most of her time sharing her love of the outdoors with them. She would spend hours in her gardens. Her touch can easily be seen in her yard as well and the yards of her children. From towering trees to the soft roses that grace the flower beds. Her time with us will never fade.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Donald Harper; mother, Molly Whitt; sons, James (Carol) Whitt, of Lorain, Donald (Sharon) Harper, of Amherst; daughter, Barbara (Mike) Rider of Amherst Twp.; grandchildren, Amber, Heather (Jason), Kristie (Matt), Chris (Melanie), Stacy, Nicole, Tricia, Robert and Tom; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Bradley, Julian, Brandon, Gavin, Jaiden, Blake and Michael; brothers, Bobby, Allen and Grover; sisters, Flora, Freda, and Goldie and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her father Andrew Whitt and brothers, Jackey, Franklin, Wayne and Danford Whitt.
The funeral service was private at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center with her family and close friends. She was laid to rest in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
