Robert G. Rousseau's Obituary
Robert G. Rousseau, age 64, of Lorain, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Mercy Regional Medical Center.
He was born on February 12, 1950 and graduated from Admiral King High School in 1968. He then attended Capital University and earned a business degree.
For over 30 years, Bob worked at US Steel as a supervisor in the Bar Mill, retiring from there in 2000. Currently, he was employed by the City of North Ridgeville. Bob also taught physics and hydraulics at Lorain County JVS for many years.
Bob was well known for his involvement and dedication to politics. He was the longtime chairman of the Lorain County Republican Party and the current State Central Committeeman. He was also the current Chairman of the Lorain County Board of Elections.
Bob was a member of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He played cards every week with his poker group. His greatest joy came from spending time with his three grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carol (nee Zagorsky); his sons, Matthew, of Independence, Zachary (Pamela), of North Ridgeville and Sean (Lisa) of Lorain; his three grandchildren whom he adored, Ava, Brayden and Zoe; his mother, June Rose Porostosky, of Frisco, TX; his brother, John Porostosky, of Amherst and his sisters, Denise Rosario, of Lorain and Lisa Negron, of Frisco, TX.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Leolyn (nee Burns) Rousseau.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst, where funeral services will be on Friday at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Fr. John Retar, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
