Roy Porter's Obituary
Roy E. “Pokey” Porter, age 62, of Elyria, passed away Friday, June 24, 2011 at his home surrounded by his wife and children.
He was born on August 8, 1948 in Grayson, Kentucky to the late Cecil and Nancy (nee Sparks) Porter.
Roy was employed for 28 years as a truck driver for Ross Transportation Services. He enjoyed playing cards, gardening and turkey shoots. He worshipped his wife, children and grandchildren and was most happy spending time with them.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Norma (nee Jones) Porter; sons, Roy Jr. “Dude” Porter, of Elyria and James “Reeber” Porter, of Elyria; daughters, Jennifer (Chris) “Shug” Bowen, of Wellington, Jessica “Jess” Porter, of Sheffield Lake and Jeneece “Neecie” Porter (fiancé, Brian Lukegord), of Lorain; grandchildren, Erika “Punkin” Bowen, Christopher “Jr.” Bowen and Austin “Cootie” Bowen; brother, Arlin Hall, of Elyria; sister, Eileen Porter, of Sandy Hook, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Royce “Gene” Porter and James Leslie Hall.
