Steve Heard
Dear Rebecca and Rachel, I am sorry to learn of your parents passing. Our paths crossed in the 80's, so I have met you both when you were quite young. I first learned of your mothers passing from your Uncle Frank. In the 80's, he and I became best friends while serving in the Navy Reserve, carpooling at first, to our monthly training weekends in Cleveland. Sharing the ride, is where I met your Parents and your Grandmother Elsie. Your Uncle Frank and I became such good friends that I stood up as his Best Man at his wedding. One of my greatest honors. Frank told me a long time ago, that around your house if you asked "What is this were having for dinner?", the answer from your mom or grandmother would be "It's the day before payday, shut up and eat it!". When ever I visited your home in Lorain, and back then it was on Palm Ave. near E38th st. (I think) your family was always welcoming to me and treated me as if I were their son or brother.Their genuine kindness is something I have always cherrished. Your father was a hard working railroad man and he often greeted me with a strong caloused grip and a joyful laugh. Peace be with you fine young ladies. With Sincer Sympathy, Steve Heard, Amherst Ohio
