William Florian Bengele's Obituary
William Florian Bengele, 90 years old, passed away Friday, June 23rd, 2023. Bill was born in Loretto, PA on October 5, 1932.
Bill was a proud graduate of St. Francis University, Class of 1956, Loretto, PA with a Bachelors Degree in Economics. While at St. Francis, Bill interrupted his studies to serve in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955, where he was decorated with multiple medals. He was honorably discharged and went on to complete his degree in 1956. Bill married his beloved, Mildred (nee Krug) on August 30, 1958 and they raised seven loving children together. He began his career in 1951 at the U.S. Post Office, eventually retiring as a Postal Inspector. Bill continued his career as a Financial Investigator with Medical Mutual and Blue Cross, Blue Shield where he finished his profession in a consulting role. Bill was an active member of the Serra Club, Knights of Columbus, St. Peter’s Church Lorain, Holy Name Society, Choir, Lay Minister, Pro-Life Group and Eucharistic Minister. He received many awards, and was most proud of U.S. Department Health and Human Services Inspector Generals Integrity Award, District 85 Serra International Sister Laura Bouhall Award, and St. Peter’s Holy Name person of the Year award and mutiple Bengele Father of the Year awards! Bill had many interests, but especially enjoyed family, golfing and his garden. No matter what the situation was, Bill could always find the humor in it. While there is no perfect and honorable person, many would say Bill was as close as it gets.
He is survived by by his beloved wife Millie (nee Krug) of 64 blessed years of marriage; children Bill (Melissa), Bonnie Stephens (Kevin), Lori Bloor (Brian), David (Colleen), Brian (Gail), Bob (Joanne), Brad (Jennifer), 14 grandchildren, 1 great grand child and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Florian Marie (nee Felix) Bengele, and sisters, Anne Jordan, Mary Lou Flanagan and brother Florian Bengele.

Memorial donations maybe directed to the Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio.
The family will receive friends at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst on Sunday, July 2nd from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Closing prayers will Monday, July 3rd at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral center, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetary, Lorain.
